Pioneer Woman/Ree Drummond's recipes are largely way to expensive these days

Main Post:

(edit: sorry for not using "too" above.) I've been catching up on The PW, and keep getting smacked in the face with how expensive her recipes are these days! For example, on a show about entertaining "for less," she made beef bourguignon. I was trying to do a running tally for that dish alone and came up to around $50, and I was trying to be generous in my estimates. Then the last few episodes I watched, she make two kinds of kebabs- one with ribeye AND strip steak, and a second with shrimp and scallops. For the same meal. The next episode she made a huge prime rib just for her and Ladd. Now I am aware they have a cattle ranch, but we don't, right? These cuts of beef are among the most expensive meats you can buy today. When I eat beef, it's of the ground variety, lol. Also, I know it's for flair but she puts fresh herbs in everything. That is something else I just cannot afford these days. Anyway, wondered if anyone else noticed the same thing, or if none of you expect Ree to be relatable anymore.

Well her family has a net worth of around $200 million, so I don't really expect her to be on a regular level when it comes to a meal budget

Give me your best time-consuming recipes

Main Post:

Hi, there. It seems like a lot of people look for quick and easy recipes, but I’m actually looking for the opposite.

Without going into too much detail, I am recently one week sober from alcohol, and I’m finding that staying active and busy has helped. While I am looking into exploring other hobbies to fill my sober time, I’ve always enjoyed cooking, and I consider myself a decent home cook.

I’m looking for recipes that will keep me active and busy in the kitchen, not like CrockPot or “dump and go” recipes. I feel like I’ve mastered a lot of American basics - meatballs, meatloaf, steak, baked chicken, salmon/fish dishes, but I’m looking to expand and try new things that will keep me busy.

I’m not a picky eater; the only things really off limit would be blue cheese and raw fish, lol. I have a pretty well-stocked kitchen with pretty much any gadget you can have, with the exception of a way to sous vide.

I have also recently lost about 50 pounds over the last year, so healthier, low-carb/low-butter recipes would be appreciated, but not necessary.

Thanks in advance!

Beef Wellington, I’ve never made it, primarily because of this reason
